Dear parents of 6th and 7th grade students,

Your child’s class is going on a field trip! This is an excellent chance to further your child’s learning outside of the classroom.

From Seeds to Shoreline is an SCDNR organization and education program that teaches students the importance of our state’s salt marshes and encourages them to participate in restoring this essential ecological keystone species, spartina alterniflora, by collecting seeds, germinating and growing them into plants, and planting them in key locations in the lowcountry.

On this field trip, we will begin the first step of collecting the seeds under the guidance of volunteers and StS educators.
