Dear parents of 5th grade students,

Your child’s class is going on a field trip! This is an excellent chance to further your child’s learning outside of the classroom.

The purpose of this trip is to learn from Water Mission, which serves refugees around the world (https://watermission.org/).

In 5th grade History class, students are learning about different countries and their culture, language, worldview, and government. The essential question for the year is, “How can we receive sojourners to Charleston and help make them feel welcome?” Water Mission International provides clean water solutions for people around the world that do not have access to clean water. They also work in refugee camps and share the good news of the Gospel. The Water Mission team conducts activities for students at their headquarters that help them better understand the needs of people in refugee camps, especially related to clean water.
