CBA Permission Slip – Grade 2 Field Trip to the Gaillard Center – 1/16/24

Dear parents of 2nd grade students,

Your child’s class is going on a field trip! This is an excellent chance to further your child’s learning outside of the classroom.

Students will attend an educational performance at the Gaillard Center titled “La Cenicienta: A Bilingual Cinderella.” The performance uses recycled items and puppetry. 

From the website: “Ten-year-old Belinda loves to tell stories, but when she’s in the basement preparing for a party upstairs, she’ll have to get creative. Using everyday objects like teapots and napkins, Belinda recreates the classic tale of Cinderella. Glass Half Full Theatre from Austin, Texas, presents its award-winning “story within a story” using puppetry, Spanish, and English. As Belinda confronts her stepmother and stepsisters, she’ll learn to embrace her love of poetry and stand up for herself. This captivating Cinderella for all ages tackles cultural heritage, family, and the power of language.” 

Later in the week, the Gaillard Center will come to CBA for a workshop! 

On the day of the field trip, students should bring a water bottle, lunch box, and a booster seat labeled with their name, if needed.

ITINERARY

10:00 Leave for the Gaillard Center

10:30 Arrive at the Gaillard Center

11:00 Attend performance of La Cenicienta at the Gaillard Center

12:15 Eat lunch on the lawn

12:45 Leave the Gaillard Center

1:15 Return to CBA
