Dear parents of 2nd grade students,
Your child’s class is going on a field trip! This is an excellent chance to further your child’s learning outside of the classroom.
Students are studying life around the world – the people, the animals, from past and present. Students will attend three educational programs at Cypress Gardens: Colonoware Pottery, Birds of a Feather, and Fossil Dig.
Students will make and decorate a pot using traditional Colonoware techniques first practiced by African Americans in the Lowcountry. They will learn about the wide variety of adaptations that have allowed birds to become so successful across the globe. The Fossil Dig program defines fossils and their formation. Students will search for fossils in sandpit and even get to take one home.
Students should:
- Bring a water bottle, lunch box, and a booster seat labeled with their name, if needed. **Please do not order lunch from Food for Thought that day.
- Wear the CBA Field Study Uniform the day of the trip: CBA Lime green t-shirt and khaki pants/shorts/skirt.
