3rd and 4th grade Mighty Oaks have had several opportunities to grow in their learning of American History from experts outside the classroom this past semester.
Third grade students gained a better understanding of life for the Native Americans in our area and life for the Colonial settlers on a recent trip to Old Santee. Students learned how Native Americans used their natural resources and lived off of the land and how people lived in the colonies and made candles.

Fourth grade students, who have been actively involved in learning about the Civil War, were able to observe and experience where the first battle of the Civil War took place, and heard many stories and facts from several perspectives of that era on their recent trip to Fort Sumter.

We are thankful to the teachers and chaperones who made these interactive learning experiences possible!
