How does Spanish enrich our understanding of what John 8:36 says? The verb used is “ser,” which indicates a *permanent* state. When Jesus frees us, we are (permanently) FREE! 
This is just one small example of the many ways that reading God’s Word in multiple languages deepens and expands our understanding. As we study John chapter 8, we’ll also study the uses of “ser” and “estar” (both of which mean “to be” in English).
