Dear CBA family,

When people ask me, “How are you doing?” I can’t help but respond, “Grateful.” We just launched our 9th school year. We have over 50 fantastic people working for the school, and everyone works with their whole hearts (Colossians 3:23). Weeks before school started, teachers and staff would arrive very early and stay late, perfecting every detail. Now that school is under way,  I walk around the campus and constantly see teachers joyfully loving children. I see students fully engaged in learning. I see parents staying late and building new friendships. I see volunteers, like our new CBA grandpa, Daniel Sanders, landscaping the grounds daily. I also see the fingerprints of so many generous donors, like Matt Bares, who provided us with a new playground and new soccer field over the last several years. In a world where it sometimes seems like everything is falling apart, I find myself walking in a place where people are radically loving each other. It feels like a glimpse of Shalom (the way God intended creation to be).

I am also grateful that our Parent-Teacher Fellowship time was well-attended on Friday. We also posted it on Facebook in case your schedule didn’t allow you to come. We want every parent to get involved and there are lots of ways to serve. You can reach out to Jennifer Whitewing, our PTF liaison at ptf@charlestonbilingualacademy.org to find a good fit for you.

Besides your help, we also value your feedback. This is “our” school, and we want to know your thoughts as we grow. Our next Parent Connect will be hosted at Holmes Avenue Baptist Church on Wednesday October 5, at 8:45 am. We need more facility space to accomodate our growth as seen in the charts below (CBA has grown from 7 to 285 in 7.5 years). We have an opportunity to renovate and then use the Holmes facility for our older students in the future. This would be a huge blessing but would also create some challenges being on two campuses. I invite you to join the chat either in person or on Facebook live to hear our vision and join this conversation.
