Our Time in 2022

2022-01-03T12:49:39-05:00

Time – one of life’s most precious commodities yet far more limited than we wish. The last couple of weeks I was able to spend precious time with family. It had been ten years since my husband and I were able to celebrate Christmas with our 3 sons and their families (4 grandchildren!) in one place. It had been 6 years since we had all even just been together. And over this Christmas break, we had 5 joyful days together! What precious time that was. Time to laugh together as we played board games. Time to ponder together as we sat [...]

Growing Our Children Through Assessment

2022-01-03T12:17:48-05:00

I love trees. From wind-blown evergreens to white-barked birch; from towering date palms to sprawling old oaks; Each tree elicits memories of years gone by.  Some of my earliest memories with my father were planting pine trees. Together we (myself, my dad, and my 4 siblings) would walk the fields, picking up rocks, preparing the soil for the tiny seedlings. Dad would carefully mark off rows, allowing space for each future tree to thrive. Then he would move steadily down each row, creating a small hole with a trowel into which we would carefully place a little plant and water. We [...]

For our Christmas program this year, we are changing the normal format so families can take a tour around the world together. Double your donation on Giving Tuesday

2021-11-29T08:09:26-05:00

This Tuesday is Giving Tuesday. There is absolutely no pressure to give. We are dedicating this year's Giving Tuesday funds toward teacher Christmas bonuses. We have a CBA family who is generously offering a $10,000 match to go toward those teacher bonuses.  So whatever you (or grandparents or friends) give even $10, it will be doubled.  $10 becomes $20 with the generous match. Here is a link to GIVE. Please WATCH THIS VIDEO where Dr. Johnson discusses the CBA budget, fundraising, and Giving Tuesday. It is quite mind-blowing to find out that CBA's cost per pupil is less than a third [...]

Godly Trait of the Month: November

2021-11-14T12:45:02-05:00

Each month we talk to students about a character quality or Godly trait. We reinforce the idea via scripture and a variety of books and songs.  The character quality of the month for November: Grateful Definition: Showing appreciation for what God has given me Memory Verse: 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Col 3:17 We explain to students some practical ways they can work on being grateful: Say “please” and “thank you.” Enjoy what I have instead of complaining about [...]

School-wide lunch service survey

2021-09-16T16:49:40-04:00

Some parents have inquired about the school offering an option to have lunch delivered to CBA students. To determine if this is a feasible idea for the school, CBA is collecting feedback from more families. Using a company like Food for Thought Charleston there are many lunch options like gluten-free or vegetarian, but having lunch provided requires a minimum number of students opting into the program. We're asking families to take this survey as we gauge interest in this additional offering at school.
