The Charleston Bilingual Academy Task Force has made the decision, at this time, that all students in kindergarten through 5th grade at Charleston Bilingual Academy should wear a mask or face shield at school. Through our ongoing discussions with area doctors and our Board, we believe this is one additional step we must take to slow or stop the spread of COVID during this peak time of transmission.

We are regularly meeting with our task force to assess our protocols, and we strongly believe masks or face shields are an additional layer of protection for our students and our wider community against the rapidly spreading illness and protecting in-person instruction.

Parents, visitors, and teachers inside the school will still be required to wear masks when social distancing is not possible.

We understand and respect there are some families who are strongly opposed to masks and face shields.  So we are giving parents the option to opt-out of their student wearing a mask while attending school at CBA.

Additionally, the CBA Task Force determined students and staff will be excluded from school if they have:
Any 1 of the following:
Fever >100
Difficulty breathing
Loss of taste or smell
Vomiting
Cough
Or any 2 of the following:
Sore throat
Muscle aches
Chills
Nausea/diarrhea
*This list could change as we get more information.
If your child has these symptoms, then you will need one of the following to return to school:
1) A doctor’s note that clears the child to attend school
or
2) A negative covid test and for the child to be symptom-free
