CBA Permission Slip – Grade 4 Field Trip to Patriots Point – May 2024

Dear parents of 4th grade students,

Your child’s class is going on a field trip! This is an excellent chance to further your child’s learning outside of the classroom.
 
On Thursday, May 9, the 4th grade class will visit the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum.

Visiting Patriots Point will serve as a summative learning experience of some major events for fourth grade’s final learning units, including World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam War. This field trip will give our students a more practical and hands-on experience of these times in American history when great leaders had to make tough, wise decisions and men and women had to sacrifice bravely and serve honorably. Students will see the advancements in technology and the changes in American society as well in these exhibits, especially with the guiding commentary from Colonel Ferguson, Miss Ferguson’s dad and former history teacher, who will help lead the tour.
 
Students should:
 
**Wear their lime-green CBA Fun Run shirt and khaki pants or shorts.
 **Bring a lunch box and water bottle to carry with them. Please do not order lunch from Food for Thought for this day.

ITINERARY ITINERARY We will leave CBA by 9:00am and arrive at Patriot's Point by 9:20, beginning our tour with Colonel Ferguson leading us first to the World War II sections aboard the Yorktown. After a picnic lunch, the students will explore the Korean and Vietnam War displays. We will leave by 1:45 to arrive back at school by 2:00.
