Early Childhood (EC) Education News for the Week of 8/28/23

Dear parents,

In the Early Childhood program,  (2yo-5K) we are giving children time to adjust to their new teachers, new classmates, and classroom routines, and will wait a couple of weeks to start group chapel times.  In the meantime, I (Maestra Margarita) am visiting classrooms as a guest speaker during circle time, sharing with the children bilingually about who God is and how He loves them. For ages 3 and older, I am explaining that soon we will get together in the Sanctuary and see the stories of the Bible come alive by acting out the story, using puppets, etc.

It has been so rewarding that students who started with us last year as toddlers, when they see me, their old teachers, and their friends, they remember us, and that has been reassuring for them. One of our youngest kids asked her mom if, in her new class, she would get to see the firefighters with the firetruck and get to hunt for treasure on “X-marks-the-spot Day”—she remembers when she was in the twos! (The answer is yes, by the way). It has also been incredible to see most former two-year-olds so comfortable with their new class. 

Our new students have been getting lots of hugs, so that when they get into activities and the playground, they forget to cry. They will have so many wonderful experiences this year. You can already hear some of our new students answering in Spanish.
