Reading is the heart of learning! We read to learn science. We read to solve math problems. We read to understand history. We read to sing a song! As the report, Becoming a Nation of Readers tells us, “The single most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success in reading is reading aloud to children.” At the recent Parent Connect, Mrs. Marilyn Lane shared five of the rewards your child will glean from the simple habit of reading aloud to your child daily. Your child will gain vocabulary, listening skills, and comprehension skills, build character, and deepen relationships. But there is a caution to take into consideration – take a moment to listen to the recording of the Parent Connect to find out the caution! Then stop by the CBA office and share the caution you heard and get a free “Love of Reading” bookmark with hints to help make your reading aloud impactful!
