On Oct. 3, 1863, in Washington, D.C. President Abraham Lincoln declared, “I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.

We are excited to announce two opportunities to share together on November 22, as we prepare to celebrate God’s “bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come.

GRADES 1-5

The annual CBA Elementary Thanksgiving Feast and Pastor Appreciation will be hosted by Grades 1-5.

We want to be people who are overflowing with thanksgiving, and giving thanks together as we remember that, as we all bring a little, a lot is done! Grade 1 – 5 students are already working together to bring supplies for the feast. Room Parents have sent out lists to each grade level. Parents are already volunteering to help cook, serve, or clean at the feast. If you did not receive the flier as to how to sign-up and be part, please stop by the CBA front office.

This is also a time when we celebrate and thank the pastors of the area churches. We want to say a special thank you for their partnership in and support of CBA. Students will be given invitations if they would like to invite their pastor to this special chapel and meal.

DATE: November 22 (this is also an early-release day)

ATTIRE: Students in grades 1-5 may come to school dressed as those at the first Thanksgiving.

TIME: Beginning at 11:30 in the HABC sanctuary, grade 5 students and Dr. Johnson will lead a special chapel about the First Thanksgiving, followed by a time to be thankful together, as CBA parents prepare and present a feast for all students and special guests to enjoy.

GRADES 6-8

We are excited to announce that this year, on November 22, students in grades 6 – 8 will be working with the North Charleston Police Department, serving our community at their annual turkey distribution. Be on the lookout for the Field Study permission slip with more details.
