September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month, an annual observance providing an opportunity to celebrate Hispanic and Latino Americans’ achievements, histories, traditions, diversity, and vibrant culture. This month was chosen because the dates coincide with national independence days in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras.

Ethnic diversity is a beautiful thing and part of God’s ultimate design where one day, we will see “a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:9)

We kicked off our month-long celebrations on both campuses this week!

Early Childhood students are learning about “Contemporaries” and we invite families to watch the presentation at the bottom of this page.  You may be surprised to find out who has Hispanic ancestry!  Parents, teachers, and Mrs. Hart will be visiting classrooms and sharing about their native countries.  Check ClassDojo for details, as EC will be celebrating contemporary Hispanic heroes throughout the Americas and the Caribbean each week this month.

Elementary and middle school students are learning about the many countries that God has used throughout time to display His splendor in a variety of facets. Students will explore the flags that represent the countries, hear stories of Hispanic individuals who have faced difficult times and yet did not give up, and pray for countries together.  This Thursday, students may come to school out of uniform and wear Hispanic culture clothes instead! Come and see our special decorations throughout the building, and be on the lookout for a special video!
