Back to School Bash August 12 @ HABC

Holmes Avenue Baptist Church is hosting a Back-to-School Bash for students in Grades 1-7 on August 12! Please see the flyer for details.
 
Parking: The event is being held at HABC (4602 Durant Ave), but families are invited to park at Charleston Atlantic Presbytery (4701 Park Pl W, N. Charleston, SC 29405), and walk down to Holmes.

August 14 & 15:
EC (ages 2-5) Online Orientation

We have updated the Meet-the-Teacher Day (MTTD) format for EC (2yo through Kindergarten) in hopes of making our time together more efficient and fun.

All families are invited to attend:

1. a required online orientation meeting
2. an optional meeting at the school to meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and play with classmates

Online Orientation Evenings – August 14 and 15

We ask that ALL parents attend or view the recording for important information, such as an overview of goals, routines, and expectations. 

Please check the schedule below, by age.  **Parents are only required to attend or view one of the sessions, but if you have a Kindergartener, please attend that session.

FACTS Family Portal

If you recently received an enrollment packet request from the admissions office, please be sure to complete your child's enrollment packet in the FACTS Family Portal! 

We will not able to roster them in their class or send ClassDojo log-in information if their enrollment is not complete.

August 10: CBA Meet & Greet

The last Meet and Greet event of the summer, organized by the CBA PTF, will be Thursday, August 10 at Central Creek Park, Goose Creek from 4:00 pm- 6:00 pm. We will be in the playground area. So pack a water bottle & snack, come say “Hi” to your CBA friends, and meet some new families joining CBA this year!

If you have a CBA shirt, please wear it so new families can easily spot us.

We are excited to announce special summer prices for Youth sizes and to introduce new colors! Please use this form to order t-shirts for the Elem/MS student PE uniform and the entire family. 

Orders placed during the summer through AUGUST 10 will be delivered on Meet the Teacher Day.

Please submit payment via VENMO @charlestonbilingualacademy and write “Summer T-shirt” in the description.

2023-24 School Uniforms

Per the CBA Parent-Student Handbook, the uniform policy for the 2023 – 2024 school year is as follows:

CBA Elementary and Middle School students (Grades 1-8) wear uniforms for multiple reasons. Uniforms help students focus on one another’s character rather than their peer’s attire. Uniforms also help students pursue unity, take on the identity of leaders, promote modesty, dress for success, and ensure safety. Shirt colors were chosen to symbolize both our world and Jesus, the Light of the world. 

• Daily uniforms are purchased from either Children’s Place, Walmart or Target (Target Cat & Jack Uniforms). 
• Elementary and Middle School PE T-shirts and Middle School sweatshirts are purchased from the CBA office (officestaff@charlestonbilingualacademy.org).
• Uniform colors include light blue (Daybreak), Navy (Tidal), Bright yellow (Yellow Pencil), and White. 
• No logos or writing should be on any polo shirts or sweaters. 

Class Assignments

Class assignments will be announced before the Meet the Teacher days. All parents/guardians will be subscribed to the ClassDojo communication app and will receive log-in details before the start of the school year.

Calling all Volunteers!  Are you interested in being a Room Parent? 

Duties of a Room Parent include:

• assisting the teacher in communicating classroom needs with parents in your class
• assisting the teacher with classroom celebrations
• coordinating parents who can help as needed throughout the year

CBA-Recommended Independent Nanny services

While CBA does not offer early childhood education programs in the afternoon, some of our teachers offer independent nanny services.  Parents are welcome to contact them directly for availability and rates.

Friendship Baptist Church
Pastor Mark Timmons welcomes you to Friendship Baptist Church (FBC) and invites you to worship with them each Sunday at 11 am. Bilingual services are held in English and Spanish on the 1st and 3rd Sunday every month. Holmes Avenue Baptist Church

Holmes Kids gather during the worship time for age-appropriate worship and teaching from newborn through grade 4.
