March 29: 3rd Annual CBA Fun Run
 |

The CBA FUN RUN is on its way! We are raising money for teacher raises and their benefits next year (Neighbor's Med subscription and Retirement match). Our goal is $100,000. It’s a fun filled day where each student runs, skips, and dances their way around a track to raise money for CBA. We have some awesome Superheroes that join the students on the track while parents and teachers cheer and motivate the students to keep running!

As you know, our mission statement reads “In partnership with parents, CBA exists to inspire world changers through Christ-centered, intercultural, language immersion-education.” We are on a continuum, where we are either growing stale or deepening our mission. I am more passionate about our mission now than 9 years ago when we first crafted it. It is why we are launching a high school.

March 7: Headmaster's Chat/Parent Connect- The Importance of Reading to Our Children/How to Pronounce Spanish So Well You Can Fool Anyone

Join CBA for “The Importance of Reading to Your Children”. Maestra Margarita’s husband, Roger Hart, will also be guest speaker and will conduct a training with parents on Spanish pronunciation to feel better equipped reading to our children in Spanish. Mr. Hart holds a Master’s in Linguistics and is also a physician assistant and a former Wycliffe Bible Translators missionary.

Make plans to meet CBA at Mace Brown Museum of Natural History on Saturday, March 16 @ 10:00am. Dr. Scott Persons, curator, will speak to our group. The museum is located on the 2nd floor of the School of Science and Math at the College of Charleston (202 Calhoun St). The surrounding streets have metered parking and there is also a paid parking garage a few blocks away at 89 St. Philip Street.

At their Generations Gatherings each month, Grade 4 welcomes, befriends, and learns from the older generation! One of CBA’s “Expected Student Outcomes” (ESOs) is to see our students become courageous leaders who humbly serve, employing their gifts and talents to generously love others. Those ‘others’ also mean others of different ages.

We are also looking for volunteers to monitor students from 7:50 - 8:15 a.m at the HABC campus! We need Playground Monitors for both playgrounds - Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-7 (Oak side).
Coach Lenny and Coach Myers are also stationed on the playgrounds at this time. Having additional monitors will allow teachers to participate in daily devotionals to start their day!

It’s not too late to sign up to learn Spanish in either a group or private online Spanish class with Language on Mission (LOM)! Our group Spanish Bible Study will give intermediate/advanced Spanish speakers great practice discussing Spanish straight from the Bible, while our Private Adult Classes will provide learners of any language level with a personalized plan to help reach their goals. Bilingual services are held in English and Spanish on the 1st and 3rd Sunday every month. On all other Sundays, Pastor Mark Timmons leads the English-language service and Pastor Luis Carreon leads a Spanish-language service. A fun and engaging children's program is held during the service.
