In partnership with parents, CBA exists to inspire world changers through Christ-
centered, intercultural, immersion-based education.
Dear Parents, We are excited about the upcoming school year as we work together to form world changers. I hope you each find time to rest and play with your family. I am very grateful for an opportunity I had to be with all of the extended Johnson family for a week in Florida.
As we prepare for the start of the school year, we have some community events and reminders.

MEET THE TEACHER Families will be notified of classroom assignments in August, but wanted to give you enough time to plan for Meet the Teacher dates. All parents are invited to meet their child’s teachers in their classroom on these dates. - Grades 1- 6: August 15 at 9 am
- Grade 1 will meet @ main campus - (Friendship Baptist Church)
- Grades 2 - 6 will meet @ the Armory Park- 5000 Lackawanna Blvd, Monitor St.
- 5K / Kindergarten: August 18 at 9 am @ main campus
- Kindergarten parents who also have younger CBA children can visit their classrooms and teachers after the Kindergarten "Meet the Teacher"s instead of coming back a second time on Monday.
- 20 months through 4K: August 22 at 9:00 am @ main campus
First day of school: - Grades 1- 6: Tuesday, August 16, 8:15 am
- 5K / Kindergarten: Friday, August 19, 8:15 am
- 20 months through 4K: Tuesday, August 23, 8:30 am
CBA FAMILY FIELD TRIPS New and returning CBA families, are invited to meet together prior to the start of school! - Returning CBA families, wear your CBA shirts so new families can easily spot you
- New families, visit the CBA store if you’d like to purchase CBA gear
- Our children will play on the playground under the bridge then we will all have a nice picnic on the grassy area
- Bring your chairs, blankets, sunscreen, food & beverages – there is also a café if you prefer to buy from there
PAYMENTS All families should have received the first of ten tuition invoices on July 1 and will receive invoice 2 of 10 on August 1. - To view each invoice, be sure to click VIEW AND PAY or click on the invoice pdf thumbnail.
- For families enrolling in 5K Aftercare and Lunch Bunch, you will see the August and September charges for these programs on the August 1 invoice.
- Please email finance@charlestonbilingualacademy.org with any questions. If you haven’t seen your invoice, please be sure to check your Spam/Promotions folder.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES All families should have received an invoice for the annual school supply fee in July. - Please click here to view school-wide everyday essentials and class-specific supply lists. Class-specific supply lists will also be reviewed during Meet the Teacher day.
CBA STORE At any time throughout the year, you can purchase CBA gear from the CBA Store! COMMUNICATION - Once school begins, you will receive a weekly school-wide newsletter
- New for the 22-23 school year! You spoke - we listened. We know how important communication is and we want to make sure we are doing it well. This year all school-wide, class-specific, and extracurricular activity communication will be done through Class Tag. There will be quick links so that you are able to quickly and easily access important information on your phone or computer. Pictures, newsletters, reports, announcements, sign-ups and more will all be available to you in one place. You will be able to message other families in your child’s class directly and communicate in your chosen language. Stay tuned for more information - we will send log-in information closer to the start of the school year.
SCHOOL CALENDAR The school calendar can be found here: https://charlestonbilingualacademy.org/calendar/2022-2023-school-year-calendar/ The calendar has been updated with revised dates for:
- Parent-Teacher Fellowship (formerly known as the PTO) meetings
- The school-wide Family Field Trip on August 13.
- If you’d like to print the calendar, we recommend downloading the pdf version, but please understand some dates may change.
EXTRACURRICULAR - Lunch Bunch Registration (20 mo through 4K) is now open! Please CLICK HERE to register.
TIME: 11:55am -12:25pm *Pick-up time is no later than 12:30pm, per SC law. COST: $6/day OR monthly rate - 2 days/week – $35/month
- 3 days/week – $45/month
- 4 days/week – $60/month
- 5 days/week – $70/month
Once you register your child, you should see a confirmation screen indicating that Lunch Bunch charges for August and September will appear on your August 1 invoice. If you do not see the Lunch Bunch charge on your August 1 invoice, please email finance@charlestonbilingualacademy.org We hope this information is helpful.
