Dear parents of 3rd grade students,
Your child’s class is going on a field study trip! This is an excellent chance to further your child’s learning outside of the classroom.
We are bringing the Revolutionary War to life on this field study, where we will explore three different sites from the Revolutionary War in downtown Charleston. We will start at the Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon where we will see where prisoners were kept, and tour the building where South Carolina started and George Washington danced. We will walk to the Heyward-Washington House, where one of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence lived. Lastly, we will travel to the Powder Magazine, where the students will learn about the weapons of the Revolutionary War and get to see what it was like for a Patriot soldier.
